Formula 1 with Herend porcelain
2024. July 21.
In 2024, Herend Porcelain Manufactory was once again the official prize provider of Formula 1 Hungarian Grand Prix.
This year, the race was held for the 39th time at the Hungaroring!
Today, HEREND has become the world’s leading luxury porcelain manufactory. When hearing Herend’s name, everyone in the world thinks of the perfect quality luxury porcelain, which is part of Hungary’s national image. The same goes for the organizers of Formula 1 Hungarian Grand Prix, who commissioned Herend Porcelain Manufactory again in 2024 to design and make the victory trophies for the Hungarian race.
The traditional shape of the trophies has become an iconic symbol today. The shape of the neoclassical style vases follows that of ancient vases, and innovation is provided by the decoration renewed every year. This year, the choice fell on a special pattern made by master painters.
The decoration of the Formula 1 prizes was based on a far-eastern Herend pattern. This special pattern is called “Imperial Peony” (“Pivoine imperiale”) depicting a stylized green rose with plant tendrils and leaves. The body of the trophies is covered with a beige base colour. The silhouette of Hungaroring, referring to the Hungarian Grand Prix, can be seen in the centre panel of the prizes.
In the case of the Herend ornamental plate for constructors, the craftsmanship is further enhanced by the openwork edge: the porcelain lace is a special Herend porcelain production technique. The openwork edge reflects the red, white, and green colours of the Hungarian flag, referring to Hungary and the Hungaricum character of Herend porcelain.
The trophies are decorated with precious metal, real 18k matte gold.
It took about six months to make the trophies. Each Herend porcelain trophy is a unique masterpiece, made exclusively for the 2024 Hungarian race. Each one has a unique design and is handcrafted from the first touch of the raw materials to the last brushstroke. Whoever will win them will own real masterpieces made in one original! Winning the F1 Herend Trophies means a special rank today.
Of course, both the painted décor and the vase form were made using artisan technology, praising the talent of Herend creative hands.
