NEW HEREND
The manufactory in the 1980s and 1990s developed fast in its product quality and its production methods. By the 1980s, Herend Porcelain was being sold in more than 60 countries around the world.
Since 1996, Imre Schrammel has given artistic leadership for a series of experiments at Herend.
They include services by Pálma Babos, a chess set, Christmas decorations and boxes by Márta Nagy, and tea and coffee services by Miklós Melocco. These have pioneered entirely new forms, although they accord with the Herend spirit. The artists have produced some excellent new series by technically renewing the piercing techniques, accentuating the tiny figures of the old Herend forms, and respecting and preserving the 'classic' Herend motifs.
Imre Schrammel's Minotaurs and his staggeringly cool and elegant Carnival figures have established a new measure and standard in contemporary porcelain art.
